Stagsden Historical Society

Stagsden Historical Society

The inaugural meeting of the Stagsden Historical Society was held on January 14th 2014. There were 17 people in attendance. It was good to see that so many people are interested in our local history and keen to record it for others to enjoy.

We have adopted a number of approaches to get us going:-

  • Organising the materials kept in the village hall
  • Recording oral history from people who have lived in the village a long time
  • Looking at Censuses and information available on the internet about Stagsden

Pamela Birch from BLARS (Bedfordshire & Luton Archives & Records Service) attended the meeting and gave us a lot of advice on how to get started. She and BLARS will be available to give us support as our research progresses.

Anyone can look up information about Stagsden on the BLARS website

The Society would welcome all contributions – photographs, documentation and recorded interviews relating to the Parish history – either personal and family or more general community events. (This information may be made available for public view so we would ask you to waive any copyright on personal photographs and notes.) We would particularly welcome information from families with Stagsden connections who are no longer resident in the parish.

The Stagsden Historical Society will meet in the village hall on the first Thursday of every month at 7.30 pm. The next meeting will be on Thursday 6th March. Everyone welcome.
